Hello all. I am trying to find some info on wiring a N/O momentary switch to my J5 telecaster. The switch that I have is a 5 pin ; NO, NC, C, +, and -
Unfortunately there weren’t any instructions with it. Im hoping to be able to wire this to cut signal, and light up only when doing so without a battery if at all possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

The OP is trying to install a kill switch into the diagram you linked to.

I didn't understand the "light up only when doing so without a battery" - the guitar is passive, so the LED needs some power source to light up...

But anyways, NO = normally open; NC = normally closed; C = common, the plus & minus should be self explanatory.

If the switch happens to be a Tesi, they have quite a few wiring diagrams here:

A kill switch is only a contact between output jack positive + to ground, output jack negative -

Hotmess1

A momentary switch need to be hold ( by you ) to keep contact close or open.
You may need a toggle or a push On push /Off switch ? Not a momentary.

Battery why ?

The momentary switch the OP is going to install has a LED light, and those are battery operated.
And choosing a momentary (instead of the more conventional switches) is of course a question of personal preferences.

BTW, it's a Squier J5 Telecaster - haven't found the service diagram on Fender's pages but it's for example here:

A momentary switch will no keep contact close or open if you do not keep it pushing.

A door ring bell button is a momentary switch. That is what OP want for a kill switch ?

I have no idea what the OP wants - no show after the post on Nov 19th...

But I'm guessing the momentary button switch is for quick on-off flutter effects.
I'm not sure about the light, though - could be to cheer up the autumn darkness, could be it's just a cool thang to have.

Thanks to all for your replies to my post. I ended up deciding to forgo the led. I really didn’t feel like getting the router out just yet, and didn’t have any resistors laying around to use, so I stuck with just a non lit switch. Works great, and looks good too. I’m new to this forum, so I don’t know how to add pictures yet

How to post photo as read on Fender Forum

First you need to upload your pics to the internet. From a great forum member ; Jmattis

Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb, flickr or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.

The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' and ending in '.jpg'.

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.

It would be more than just adding a resistor to make the LED work.
You would need a power source for it, and since the J5 does not have active electronics, that means that you would have to add a battery as well as a resistor... and the ONLY thing the battery would do it make the LED come on. Depending on when you want the LED to be on, you may also need to change the jack to a stereo jack.
