Hello,

I'm trying to verify what kind of guitar this is before purchasing it and it seems like a really confusing model. The neckplate says corona california but I thought that the california series were only made in the USA and this does not seem to be. The pickups also seem all wrong

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm calling fake/partscaster... BAD fake... they didn't even try to get this one right.

The neck plate is from a bass (US guitars with a "Fender Corona" neck plate have the 5th hole for the micro-tilt, models like the American Special without Micro-Tilt have either blank plates, or only a large script "F")
The plastic pad under the neck plate is not a factory part on any Fender.
The knobs are Les Paul speed knobs, Fender never used those.
The bridge saddles are not a Fender product
The California series did not have "block" saddles, and the bridge plate had a lip around the perimeter to allow mounting of an "ash tray"
The dots on the neck are not spaced properly at the 12th fret. IF it is a Fender neck, it's from a Squier.
The (remaining) string tree is a $5 Amazon special, but the California only had one, so the 2nd hole is incorrect.
The opening for the truss rod adjuster is simply drilled wood. Real one had a plastic sleeve like the current MIM models.
I've never seen a Fender factory nut with the strings that deep in the cuts.
The headstock decal is completely wrong.
California series Tele had Kluson tuners
California series Tele had 21 frets
If you can see it with the pickguard removed, ALL if the California series were routed for a humbucker at the neck.
Serial number should be AMXN######, headstock is marked "Made in USA"
The case does not have a "Fender" name tag under the handle.

It is a very nice case though... worth more than the guitar :D

Here's a Youtube video of a real one.

Yeh but a roller string tree on a Tele would be an extremely useful addition
