after seeing this thing i am thinking about getting a tele just because it has that old looking feel to it. can anyone tell me how it feels and how it plays im probably going to run up to guitar center and check it out soon but whats the cheapest tele?

Telecasters have real, bluesy tone thanks to that little neck pickup, and a very bright tone in general, and in comparison to the Stratocaster, or Gibsons. The bridge pickup can really scream, but with the right amp, you get the Tele' sounding just how you want, and you fall in love with it. Telecasters are really easy to use, and are fun to play. They have a nice weight too, not too heavy, but moreso than a Stratocaster.

The cheapest Fender Telecaster would be a Standard (or the ones made in Mexico) which are advertized by Fender for $600, but it's different wherever you buy it from. I have one of those, and love it, but you may be partial to American models, so the next one up is a Highway One Telecaster, and that's like $1000.

I know that sometimes people just buy a Squier to see if they like the guitar before buying a Fender. Don't waste your money on something with no value though. Try different Fender Tele's in shops to see if you like one, then find the one thats right for you in cost, playability, and looks.

this makes me wanna get a tele next year for my b-day. oh no, but there's my curse. I'll walk in, see a beautiful black or white tele, i'll say cool and try it out, but then i'll see a back strat with a maple fretboard and then i'll end up buying that... strats seem more comfortable to play cause of the contours. Also it's lighter. tele's are really versatile. strats are MORE versatile. *gasp* How could i say that? but thats how i feel lol. i play hendrix and blues influenced rock, and to me a tele doesn't cut it. But they are gorgeous. Despite my afformentioned opinions, the tele is the one that started it all, and i mean all.

Strats, lps, sgs, etc.

Dude, Sweet Tele! Good looking wood and I love the Duncan in the neck position.
