The saddles were throwing me too, but the FMT-HH does have that type of saddle/bridge.

Agreed that something doesn't look right in the saddle spacing though... almost like there's a chrome flake or something on the side of one or more of the blocks pushing them over.

The thing is, in the product photography of all colours and models of these FMTs you can clearly see the strings aligned perfectly over the pickups.

It looks as though the saddles are following the radius arc.
They shouldn't be.
The strings should be set against the radius arc, but the saddles should always be at 90° to the bridge base plate.
If the saddles were at 90° to the bridge base plate the saddles wouldn't be spread across such a wide area.

Kind of agree and the bridge is definitely not right but the problem is, the strings are actually correctly spaced across the neck. So I think the wrong width pickups are installed.

A pickup a few mm wider with poles to also spaced would solve this.

You can't fit a longer PUP in the aperture, at least with that frame.

As the vendor has offered to take the guitar back I would go with that option as it is otherwise always going to annoy you.

F spaced pups are the same external dimensions.

You mean these are F-Spaced or not?

Likely they are not F spaced

Why would Fender not use F-Spaced pickups in their own guitars??

Are you certain this guitar was brand new when you purchased it?

Have you looked under the hood for signs of soldering?

Assuming it is in fact non F spaced, the pickup may possibly have been changed.

If it has not been changed and it is not F spaced then I have no answer other than maybe it’s a QC escapee.

I thought all Pearly Gates Pluses were "normal" spaced, not wide. (At least they were in LoneStars…) :?:

The Pearly Gates Plus is a Fender exclusive but not F (trembucker) spaced. Go figure.

This alignment issue is visible on some dealer sites that produce their own images not the official Fender released images.
This is an amber at Thomann.

Replacement arrived today. Still not perfect but much better than the last one. I can live with it but there’s really no reason for it.

Notice the bridge doesn’t look quite as wonky as the previous one either.

As mentioned, it could be from the saddles having been canted.
While the relative height of the strings should follow the neck, both of the screws on each individual saddle should have the same number of exposed threads, making the top of the saddle level with the bridge plate.
If the screws are uneven, the saddles will be canted, and one bottom corner will ride against the side of the next saddle, which can mess with the alignment.

"F" spaced pickups are generally used when the pickup is angled, such as the bridge pickup of a Strat. While not all Strat bridge pickups are "F" spaced, but many are... just enough to make it a pain if you want to change the color of your pickup covers.
On Humbuckers, rather than "F" spaced. Duncan refers to them as "Trembuckers"

The OP also plans to build another backrouted Tele based on the Custom FMT HH.

For this custom creation I suggest a pair of humbuckers with nickel-plated chrome covers.

I like the exposed type pick-up look to be honest.
