I know strings don’t have to be dead aligned with pick up poles but how to know if it’s actually defective bridge / pickup / nut installation?

Aliexpress?

And ya... that's not right, but it'll sound just fine (or as good as it would sound with any alignment)

The OP's guitar looks legit.

Bought from the biggest Fender dealer in the UK. They’ve accepted it back for a swap.

I think the wrong pickup width was installed, or the bridge is not aligned - saddles look cocked?

I agree that the saddles look strange. I thought Fender block saddles had the adjustment screw off set running up one leg. But there are so many subtle variations in specs that this may not be the case.

The blocks also don't seem to line up with the holes below which could indicate they are after market and too wide for the bridge.

A further note that my US Hardtail doesn't have exposed screws at the front corner.

But then the OP has got rid any way

Will replace it all with USA chrome hardware anyway - not liking this black nickel finish, looks kinda cheap.

I thought you said that the shop had accepted it back? And US hardware may or may not fit.

To clarify, still want the guitar just another one that’s been checked over.

You’re right about the bridge - I’ve yet to find a chrome one that is the same spec as this - the guitar is an Made In Indonesia model.

Pegs, knobs are an easy switch. The bridge may have to be re-chromed annoyingly.

Not sure why there needs to be such variation...

This guitar needs a good setup by an expert IMO.

How would that solve this issue?

Even if it sounds fine like this, it’s an unnaceptable flaw cosmetically, especially given some guitars half the price don’t have this issue.

The FMT in Crimson Red on the Fender website is like the one above.
The Amber is fine.
Could be different versions of the bridge causing the problem which is exaggerated perhaps by slight incorrect placing during manufacture.
Examples of the guitar at Thomann are the same. Maybe Cort have started using a different bridge.

According to the parts supplier, Angela, the bridge (Fender part number 0062381000) is 2.16" E to e which is more in Trembucker territory than a standard humbucker. One Ebay dealer states 2.06" E to e which would be more acceptable with a standard humbucker.

Another bridge conundrum a la Cabronita?

Thanks for the reply - insightful.

It’s bizarre that one colour is aligned correctly and another not.

This ‘Cherry burst’ model has the nickel black hardware where the Amber model used black hardware - so perhaps something going on with the nickel black stuff as you suggest.

Problem with correcting it with a genuine USA Fender Bridge is those mount with the 3-Screw in a row fitting whereas Fender’s Far East / aftermarket ones use 4 screws, one in each corner.

Annoying.

USA saddles have the intonation screw running up one leg. Bridge assemblies made offshore are often centred. My MIK Koa Strat is centred.

I suspect that may be just photography distortion from being a very close up shot. The lens was likely close enough to the target that the angles to the edges seem exaggerated.

Top - USA
Bottom - Korea

At the time this pic was taken I was comparing bridges of two guitars while noticing some differences during a Partsocaster build.
I did a number of comparisons at the time.
The vernier calliper showed that even though the pivot points were different, the string spacing was the same.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

The saddles were throwing me too, but the FMT-HH does have that type of saddle/bridge.

Agreed that something doesn't look right in the saddle spacing though... almost like there's a chrome flake or something on the side of one or more of the blocks pushing them over.

There was also an all-black FSR FMT HH Custom with EMGs. No longer into production.
