Hello again all, it's been a while! Well, once again we got something through the shop that I'm not 100% about. I KNOW it's not an American Made guitar, but what is it? I thought it was about a 2004 Special Edition Custom Tele FMTHH model. But all of the ones I could find did not have a thick gold logo and the serial numbers did not look like that! Other than that, everything SEEMS ok...I took the pickups out and they are real Duncans (TB-4 in the bridge) and it feels good and tight. I did see SOME with a thick reflective logo like that, but did someone just happen to find a "Made In USA" sticker in the same thick gold font and put it on there? Still, look at the large white serial number...even if someone removed the "Made in Korea" or whatever, the font and stamp do not look right! Any thoughts?? I don't want to put it on Reverb and then people think I'm trying to sell a known bootleg!

Q: Is this a fake Fender S.E. Custom Telecaster FMT HH??

A: Yup!
And someone doesn't have a clue on stringing a guitar up either.

So, any other thoughts on to what this is? I know it's not a fake from the ground up! Is is an Indonesian one or what? The weight is good, the binding is good, the pickups are real, and the real fake part to me (The "MADE IN USA" lettering) is actually under the clear coat like the logo....
Thanks for any input!!!!

It's a straight up fake.
Fender did not do any mass-produced set-neck models that I can recall.
The dot size and spacing would be consistent with Squier, but Squier made no set-neck HH Teles.
The configuration and figured top would be something that would have come from the Custom Shop, but this one is not a Custom Shop.

The serial number does not return as a valid Fender number.
The Tuners are not Fender (nor Sperzel.)
The String Trees are cheap Chinese junk... here's four for $8
https://smile.amazon.com/Roller-Retaine ... ring+trees

It may or may not be a "nice" guitar. Something about the nut area bugs the snot out of me.
IF it was made in the US, it was made in a private shop. It is also possibly a Chinese-made fake. There are no Fender parts on that guitar.

Fender makes the Special Edition Custom FMT, which is the model this guitar is trying to pose as.
And that's not the only one; the Jim Adkins JA-90. Custom Shop has made several one-off types, but the "Tuff Dog" is a CS production model - not 'mass production', of course.
Plus, even Squier lost the screws but found the glue jar; the Master Series Thinline and Chambered Teles in the early 2000's; Korean or Chinese.

But as said above, the guitar in the topic is a fake.
Edit: Peekaboo!

Good find.
OTOH, it may be made on the same production line as Squier, Epiphone, or ESP.

The funny thing is, as fake as that obviously is, there appear to be parts on it made to a higher standard than the same brand new genuine model I just bought.

Go figure.
