I am thinking about building a late 60's style Thinline using a Warmoth body and all Fender parts. From my research it appears Fender switched from swamp ash to adler in the mid 60's so I assume its safe to say a original 1969 Thinline would have been made with adler? Or was swamp ash still using on Telecaster style guitars and only Strats switched to adler?

The price list of 1969 (on Fender's support pages) describes the painted versions of the Thinline Tele as ash or mahogany, They don't mention the sunburst wood, but that was usually ash, too. So, no alder for 1969.

Thats yes I did more research yesterday and Ash seems to be the right choice over Adler. They must have moved from Ash to Adler on the Strat and not the Tele

After much trying to find that look I wanted but not knowing what it was I ordered this. It is Swamp Ash with a Quilted Maple top and a Honey Burst gloss finish from Warmoth. I also ordered a 3 ply white|black|white pickguard. I will be using all Fender parts minus the Body and Neck which will both come from Warmoth as they are authorized Fender manufacturers.

My plan is for Fender Texas Special pickups, Fender Locking Tuners, and Fender pots and 3 way switch along with a Fender Tele bridge with brass saddles.

Here is the neck I ordered from Warmoth. It is a Roasted Maple 22 fret with narrow tall stainless frets and a GraphTech TUSQ XL black nut. It will be finished in clear gloss before they ship it to me. The tuner holes will be 25/64 aka 9.92 mm so I will have to ream them to 10.08 mm or so for the Fender Deluxe Locking Tuners I use on all my Fenders.

The Warmoth body came today and to say they over delivered is an understatement. I also received a lot of the Fender parts

Sweet.

I put my switches the other way around on my Strats but I I don't know if it is the same on a Tele?
