I just purchased my first Fender Telecaster, which is the Professional model. After playing about 10 Tele's I picked the one that sounded best and had the neck that was the most comfortable

I was a big American Strat player for soo many years. Had this misunderstanding that Tele's were just best for country and they had that big twang. But when you hear Led Zep I, Roy Buchanan, some Jeff Beck, Keef, Robben Ford, and the Boss, you find that have are like a punchier Strat that is great clean and with some distortion.

I changed the strings which came with 09's to 10's, it this removed the slight ice pick sound that the high E string had. It also provided a fuller sound, especially with the neck pickup.

The guitar is lighter than my strat, the neck and frets are wonderful to play on, it looks and sounds great with all three toggle settings. Right now this is my favorite guitar over my Les Paul and Strat for my blues/jazz playing as well as worship music l(Hillsong).

Congrats on the new git.

Teles are an acquired taste and not for everyone.
I find them to be more touch sensitive than Strats.
I suspect it's one of the reasons why some folks dislike them.
They reveal your sloppiness more than the Strat.
They also reward you with great expressiveness once you clean up your playing.
Some Teles have a bit of honk to them, particularly in the neck position so I am pretty particular about my Teles, wanting to minimize that aspect.
I sold a rather rare Tele because I couldn't dial the honk out of it.
I replaced it with my current Tele, which is a wonderful instrument and I doubt I'll ever part with it.

Enjoy the new sonic territory you're about to discover.
Happy noodling.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'm a recent convert from Strats to Teles myself and am loving mine. I have (more than) enough Strats but have to sit on my hands to stop me buying another Tele.

I love the simple honesty of the Tele. It is ugly and uncomfortable to play, compared to a Strat, but it seems to produce the sounds I hear in my head straight away where I often have to chase them on a Strat...if that makes sense.

I have a 1982 Strat and my new Tele is lighter and the neck is easier to play and bend notes on. I don't fine my sunburst Tele to be ugly. I love the way it looks with it's maple neck. Now with using thicker picks the highs are reduced and it is more workable.
