Over 25 years of playing my American Strat and Gibson Les Paul, I am finally purchasing my first American Telecaster.

In looking at a Butterscotch Tele I liked, I was surprised to see a small gap between the neck and body on top. I thought the American quality control was better than that. Anyway the Sunburst with maple neck had a slight more open sound and the quality control seemed a little better on this one.

I like buying a guitar from a store compared to Mail order as each one feels and sounds a little different. You don't have as many options to choose from in the store but after going to both Sam Ash and Guitar Center, the Sunburst I played at Sammy had the best sound, feel, and craftsmanship. I thought about a G&l Alnico Asat Classic as well but no dealer had any in stock within 150 miles and then you had at least a 4 week wait. Plus a Fender Telecaster is a Fender Telecaster.

Solid purchase and looking forward to seeing the pictures. As a recent Tele convert myself I know you won't be disappointed - once you get over the Telecaster nipple and arm ache. But then after playing a Les Paul the Tele sould seem positively ergonomic by comparison ;-).

I have to go on a business trip to Dallas TX next week. When I get home on next Friday, I hope to grab my new guitar that I put a deposit on. Can't wait! I also can't wait to start playing it in my recording studio.

I will share my opinions of it when I use it my studio. I want to blend it with my Strat on several songs. Eric Clapton and Albert Lee have done that on several records and it sounded great. I am a blues rock player with a twist of jazz.

One song I will record with this Tele is the Jeff Beck song Cause we ended as lovers.

I think you will be surprised over the flexibility of the Tele and I wouldn't be drawn in to assuming it will only do what Teles were used to do historically.

I could not be happier with the Tele. It's been a couple of weeks and I just can't stop playing it. Med picks work best for when you want the country twang. Heavier picks better for rock or worship music to control the high end a bit and a richer rthy sound.
