Do you like how it sounds?
The new Player series has been getting very good reviews.
Pickups, as with any pickup including the Custom Shop Texas Specials, are often a love/hate thing.
There is nothing wrong with the stock guitar. It can be improved, but it would not be a priority for me.

They are equipped with Alnico 5 pickups which are a very adequate pickup choice ! As with most guitars , there is usually always a upgrade available but these are very nice just as they are in my opinion. :D :D

Check out my telecaster from this new Player Series in Sonic Red. Honestly, this guitar is the best one by Fender I’ve ever owned. It’s working, it’s flawless (unlike the offset series), it plays great, sounds gorgeous. Very versatile as well. Can shine in blues, jazz, funk and also in punkrock and grunge as well (which is the main use for me btw). Pickups are just amazing, neck sounds smooth, the bridge pickup is just ferocious. Feels great in hands too. What else to say… check out this video, if you are interested in getting one. For me, it’s 10/10. Hopefully, this will help you to make your decision and opinion.

I would keep it as is for awhile. Try adjusting the pickup heights and maybe try
various other strings and gauges after some time - before you drop more dough on it.

I personally find the neck pickup very dark.

I will likely be replacing them eventually.
