I picked up one new in 2006. This is obviously a fantastic guitar but from what I understand people go nuts over the color- Some paying $1200 for one just like it. Is this a highly coveted color?

It is not the most common of colours as it is a bit like Marmite (a British yeasty spread you either love or hate). As such, and as with all second hand purchases, people will pay what they will pay.

If you decide you want to sell it and it just so happens that, at that time, someone really wants a Daphne Blue highway One then there is a possibility they will pay more for the Daphne Blue. By the same token it might be that someone wants a Highway One but doesn't like Daphne Blue so would only buy yours if it was less than a more conventional colour.

Personally I'm not aware of anyone paying over the odds for a Daphne Blue Highway One Tele. I have a Daphne Blue Highway One Strat and a two colour burst Highway One Tele . I like the colour of the Strat but didn't buy the guitar because of the colour. Had I had a choice of Daphne Blue or the mud colour (being another option on the Highway One Strat) I would perhaps have gone for the Blue but wouldn't have paid more than a few quid more for it. Daphne Blue or Burst I would choose the burst.

I've seen a few Strats in DB but not too many Teles. Limited production with that finish.

From that link - "The Daphne Blue finish was only available in 2007 with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard."

I've got a daphne blue Nashville deluxe. An amazing colour imo. So, I would definitely pay more to get a highway one in the same colour.

I like blue...but still wouldn't pay extra.

I was going to say I wouldn't buy a guitar based on colour but then wouldn't buy a red one.
