I've just bought fender squier telecaster obey propaganda. Although I couldn't found the serial number on fender's website, I'm sure that it is original. I searched for few times, but didn't found match on the serial number. The serial number is IC 060308696 and it was crafted in Indonesia. Is it original or not? Help me please.

Pictures would help, but it is unlikely that a Squier would be a forgery.
The "Obey Propaganda" may or may not be factory.

A quick trawl of Google would suggest that it could be real.

All of the pictures which show the Serial Nºs suggest IC0605***** as being a common configuration. This may, or may not, be of any significance.

Personally I would do an image search to see if there are any consistent details different to your guitar.

However, with due respects, as CB points out, people are unlikely to fake a Squier. If they have the wherewithal to create a convincing fake Squier one assumes they could have equally made a fake MiA and charged a great deal more for it. What would be the point in faking a Squier?

China makes fake everything. There are fake Squiers and fake Epiphones.

That said, it's not at all uncommon for genuine Squier serial numbers to not show up in databases.

While China is capable of producing high quality guitars (real Epiphones are made there), the fakes almost always look cheap. Little details are wrong, and the finishes tend to look "off" compared to real ones.

You say you're pretty confident it's real and your only concern is that the serial number doesn't show up in databases. So the odds are it is real.

Beyond that, if it sounds good, feels good, and looks good, it doesn't matter too much if it's real. Used "Obey" Squiers aren't collectable or particularly valuable. Just normal Squiers with graphics added, and they made many of them.

A fake that's built well enough to pass for a real one would be worth about as much as a real one.
