So I am looking for a trade for my Gibson SG and got offered this. It's a beautiful guitar but I see no Serial number.. and its throwing me off.
I obviously dont want it if it's not a genuine fender.
Please help :)Below is a link to the guitars images Fender https://imgur.com/gallery/0q4RFCY

The truss rod adjuster hole is not correct for MIA.
The dot inlays look to be a hair too small and the double dots at the 12th fret look to be spaced too far apart.

BUT... if it is a legitimate custom shop, those could be correct. Without a serial number and other documentation, it's impossible to tell.
Does it include the case and CoA?
If it is a Partscaster, they did a beautiful job on the finish.

The guitar does not fit the Harrison model, nor any of the other (FSR's etc.) rosewood Teles from Fender Custom Shop I know of.
And that truss rod opening resembles the Chinese copies much too much.

Absolutely check the serial number with Fender Consumer Relations (via the support pages).
If you don't get the serial, walk away.

I don't think I've ever seen a Rosewood tele with PG mounted neck pickup. Not George Harrison, Custom shop, etc.

No COA or serial number, RUN away...
The bridge can looks cheap to me and the string ferrules aren't properly set flush (A,B,E).
The neck plate should be a CS plate, no? With the serial number, unless stamped on the bridge can.
I think the PG, is the least of concerns as it could have been changed for convenience. But then not many people adjust pup heights that often either, so why?
The nut looks poorly cut to me also.
Likely made in Asia somewhere maybe Japan.

On 2nd look, most likely fake.
The top two tuners are not properly aligned.

You can buy Custom Shop decals on ebay, but they are not had to make.

Now this is interesting....

Could this be a "Guitarbuild" custom shop model that someone added the Fender CS logo to?

Quick followup...
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Cus ... -Guitar.gc
There's the real custom shop version. Note the CS neck plate and position and type of CS decal on the back of the headstock.
Also headstock decal, tuners, truss rod adjusts at the heel, no hole in the headstock...
I'm definitely calling the original a fake.
