Hiya,

I recently bought a 2012 standard US tele and was slightly concerned when I saw that the neck plate doesn't have Fender or Corona, California stamped on it. So I decided to look at the neck pocket to see if the body was legit. Can anyone tell me what they think of this;

Picture isn't displaying.

Not all neck plates are engraved. My 2017 American Special has a blank plate.

Does the serial number match the description and body?

Hi Rich - thanks for replying. I've fixed the picture now.

The serial number matches the description except for the colour (it says blonde not sunburst) but I understand that this is normal?

Cheers,

T

There's no Micro-Tilt™, that is not an American Standard Telecaster from 2012 - sorry.

Edit: Just noticed the 1st post edit & 3rd post from the OP. On a US model, the date would be different (month-day-year); this day-month-year would point to Mexico.
And on US guitars from 2012, the serial number registration database is quite reliable - at least to the extent, that all discrepancies should be examined further.
At this point, I'd suggest checking the serial number with Fender Consumer Relations (via the support pages); they have the original specs belonging to it. Contacting the seller might also be due.

Yep I'd be concerned too.
Definitely needs more investigation.
That large routed hole is typical of some mexi bodies... :D

Can you post a picture of the body with the pickguard removed?

The OP says it is sunburst not flat black.
No doubt - a Mex Standard body.
Body part code in the neck pocket is not Hwy 1 but nearer to the Mex Standard part code.

There's no doubt this guitar is a partscaster assembled from legit Fender parts.

The pics only show part of the body, and since that isn't what it was supposed to be, I'd be suspicious (= suspicious enough to check properly) about every single part of the guitar.

The pickguard screws look legit, though - but not necessarily MIA...
