The D-string on my Tele buzzes when played open, pretty badly. I find it very weird since the problem didn't exist previously, or at the very least I had not noticed it (doubt it).

Anyways, my question is, is there a quick fix for this? Meaning, something other than getting a new nut?

Hi aristotelis98, welcome to the forum.

Is your D string buzzing behind the nut? Where is the buzzing coming from? Does the buzz come through the amp? Just a few things to consider so that we can narrow it down a bit.

If it's just one string, and only on opened notes, check the nut slot, it may be cut too low, or also possible the nut has down a bit worn from playing

Do a complete set -up by a pro.

How his the neck curve ?
How is the saddle height ?

Nut slot height are easy to check ;
1-Fret string at the 3rd fret
2- String must not touch the 1st metal fret

If string touch the metal fret ; it is easy to fix

Check and report

^^^^^ This

If this is something new, then something has changed... strings of a different gauge, someone adjusted the saddle height and it revealed a nut slot that was cut too low, humidity/temp changes altered the neck geometry.

Take it to someone who can inspect and set it up, or buy/build some basic tools and learn how to do it yourself. It's not rocket science.

Previous to what?
Anyways, my first guess would be the string just doesn't sit properly in the nut slot - I don't know anything about the OP's experience or skill levels, but a) it's the first post, and b) that happens often with new people putting on new strings, especially when changing to a thicker gauge.

But quoting a distinguished forum member, check and report. 8)

Guitar playing right and one day string buzz = need truss rod adjustment , wrong neck bow.

Very generally speaking, and in my experience, a need for truss rod adjusting isn't something that happens surprisingly and suddenly. But, to be able to diagnose, I asked for more info.

But since the OP joined, posted and last visited on April 24th, it may be that the topic is dead - except if we, in our usual way, keep arguing discussing all kinds of offtopicly thangs nobody else bothers to read.

Neck ( curve) is the only thing it can move by itself with weather or new string gauge.
