Hi all,

I'm from the UK and I've recently inherited a 1966 Fender Telecaster and wanted to find out about the guitar and its possible value. See pics below. It's currently not strung as I had a look for the date on the neck.

Thanks in advance!

You get some reference points from reverb.com 1966 Tele Blonde price guide
But any vintage guitar should be evaluated individually.

And you can post pics straight on the forum, just get the pic address (starts http, ends jpg) and use the IMG command, like this (right clicked on the pic, "properties", copied the pic address):

Any appraisal based on just a few pics is just a rough guess. Little things matter, and an expert really needs to examine the guitar in person to be accurate.

For example, in your pics the headstock face looks very fresh and the "Fender Telecaster" decal looks like it's under the finish instead of on top of the finish. Which suggests the neck may have had a partial refinish at some point in the past. (Possibly during a refret?)

But that might just be the angle/lighting of the pic.

No pics of the bottoms of the pickups or the electronics. So no way to know if those are all original.

No pics of the body's neck pocket or pickup/electronics cavities.
-------------------
No glaring red flags to suggest it's not real. And presumably you know enough of its provenance for us to trust that it's real. Given that, the minimum value would be around $4000. If the neck hasn't been partially refinished and the pickups/electronics are all original it could be close to $7000.

The maple neck was an option for 65/66 models.
Missing the top hat for the selector?
Having the original case and original electronics would go a long way in the price appreciation.
Nice looking guitar otherwise.

Those maple necks were separate round laminated caps.

The 1-piece maple neck wasn't offered until 1969.

I had a '66 many years ago and that looks a lot like it.

I'll take it off your hands. :D
