Hi there

I currently have two MIM cabronita telecasters, one white and one black.

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to respray the stock pickups (fidelitron chrome).

How easy would it be to do and would there be any sound implications.

Thanks in advance

I really don't understand the question. Respray what in the pickup and why..?
The chrome parts are plated, not painted.
If you want the black bobbin white and do the job neatly, you'd need to disassemble the pup - depending on your skills, could be risky. But I wouldn't expect the paint to cause any major sound changes.

Most paint won't stick well to chrome plating.

Plus you'll have to disassemble the pickups, or you'll have messy blobs and stuff in the open areas between the covers and coils.

The covers are soldered on. When you reassemble the pickups, the heat of resoldering them is likely to make the paint bubble, blister, or char.

You could disassemble them and find some place that can replate them in black chrome or gold. But paint is unlikely to give decent results.

How about a permanent felt marker pen..?
It's absolutely a non-permanent solution, but cheap, easy to reapply and comes off with solvents when one gets bored. And at regular stage-audience distances, it should work just fine.
