Have there been any changes made to the Classic Player Baja '60s Telecaster, other than the move from rosewood to a pau ferro fingerboard, since its initial release in 2014? I'm especially interested it changes, if any, regarding pickups.

Thank you

A definite déjà-vu here...

I'd say the tech specs are the same - at least the service diagram has not been upgraded. CAR seems to have dropped off the color menu, and the Pau Ferro thang is new.

But maybe ask Fender Consumer Relations to be totally quite absolutely really, r-e-a-l-l-y sure.

afaik there have been some minor wiring changes due to a revamp of the S1 switch construction.

Regarding the pickups, comparing a listing from 2014 and the existing one on the Fender site the pickups are described as follows:

2014 - American Vintage '58 Tele single coil at bridge and American Vintage '52 Tele single coil at neck.
2018 - American Vintage ’58 Tele (bridge) and ’52 Tele® (neck) single-coil pickups.

They seem to be the same.

I agree, they do seem to be the same. But based on the reply, I received from customer relations, that I've quoted below, the explanation for bridge pickup seems quite straight forward, but the explanation for the neck pickup is still in question.

"Neck Pickup - Specific to the Baja. It is essentially a 52 Telecaster pickup (otherwise known as the Original Vintage in the accessory sets) with an extra lead for better grounding.
Bridge pickup - It is the same pickup used on the American Vintage '58 Telecaster"

Three word groupings, regarding the neck pickup, stand out for me. And this is what I need clarification on: "specific to Baja", "essentially", and "Original Vintage".

The 2018 spec. seems to indicate to me that the '52 Tele pickup on the newer Baja '60s is a modification of the American Vintage '52 Tele pickup on the original Baja '60s. I'm under the impression that an extra ground wire has been added to the pickup's cover. But I would like to know if that feature was on the original pickups, and also, have there been any other modifications made to the newer pickups that would affect voicing etc.
Also, I'd like some clarification regarding he American Vintage/Pure Vintage/Original Vintage issue. It's all very confusing. Somebody must know, without question, what the differences are, if any.

Yippee, an exercise in Fender lingo interpretation! (This might improve my modern Anglo-Frisian dialects cunning in general, too...)

"Original Vintage" in this context with more-than-reasonable certainty refers to part number 0992119000; Fender Original Vintage Tele® Pickups, found in AVRI '52 Tele, and in its 'successor' American Original 50's Tele. Separate part numbers 0094123000/bridge, 0094124000/neck.

"Specific to Baja" most likely means that the Baja version of this pickup is the only version in our times which has three wires, while AVRI52 and AmOrig50 get along with ridiculously only two.
(I'm no wiring guru, but the S1 switch in the Baja could play a role here, too.)

"Essentially" most likely means that the 'essence' of the pickup (mechanical thangs like base, wire, windings, magnets etc.) is the same as in the 0094124000, only the ground wire is added. (Of course, there may be different magics present if Ms. Campos wound any of the forementioned pickups.)

"American Vintage/Pure Vintage/Original Vintage" are a large but insignificant part of the FMIC Marketing Department's universal conspiracy for and against creating, utilizing and understanding information.
