Hey grover868,
Your Tele is outstanding. I love the naturally aged/relic look. That's a real keeper (unless you want to send it to me).

I agree and that is a top loader... What year and model is that ? I assume thats an American Tele ? or Japanese ?

just picked up this La Cabronita Especial build today, at the price I got it for I couldn't say no. Now I have to decide if I am going to refinish it in blonde or sonic blue, then spray the neck with a few more coats to darken it up and relic the whole thing. figure worst case scenario I could sell it and break even or make a few dollars.

  Amazing! Here in Spain is impossible to see a guitar like that in a store. If you want one, you have to order it (withouth knowing if you're sure, of if it's what you're looking for).

In my opinion, that guitar doesn't need any work on it, it's perfect right now. Maybe in butterscotch blond... But, please, never sell it (you can give it to me as a present, if you don't like it  ).

damco, it is a guitar that a friend of mine built. it is perfect in every way but the finish job could have been better. It is a nitro finish and not done as well as something you would buy from fender, but I got a good deal on it so I can always refinish it myself. Thanks!

I thought it was a Fender Custom Shop instrument! Anyway, if you don't like the finish, this is not a big problem... Blonde or Sonic Blue are good options.

And being a custom built, selling it wouldn't be an option. You have a single instrument.

ES11: Thank you for the very kind words, I love that Tele. The major obstacle with me sending her to you, would be the grief my son would give me. She will become his when I'm not here to play her any longer. I'm sorry, but I am sure you understand. :)

CajunBlues: I thank you also for the kind words. It most definitely is an American Tele. She was my present for my 13th. birthday way back in 1962. Yes, she is a top loader, as you can see. The pots and neck say her birthday was in 1959.

I love this guitar. I have not heard any Tele that sounds like her, and I have played and heard thousands during my career.

Again, thank you ES11 and CajunBlues for your kind words.

A 1959 top loader without any attempt of drilling through the body to make it a string-through... That has got to be a rare tele... and worth some serious cash...

grover868,
I completely understand you making that Tele into an heirloom for your son. Mine will be going to my daughters as well, assuming they want them. If your son changes his mind and decides to play bass, drums, trombone, whatever, just tell him to send that beauty my way! ha ha ha
Enjoy!

I never understood why people used to take their top loaders and drill through the body...but who am I to say what someone does with their guitar...mine is 100% original, exactly how she was shipped from the Fullerton plant.

I have not made an attempt to value her in a long time. When I did have it appraised years ago, I do remember saying to myself though, "That's crazy to pay that much for a guitar!!!"

I'll pass that along to him ES, but I have a feeling he will pass on your offer. :)
On his 16th. birthday, I set up 6 guitars and said to him, "happy birthday, take your pick." He chose a 1967 Les Paul Custom. Now that he is older and wiser, he keeps hounding me to trade the Tele for that Les Paul. LOL

I was going to post a pic of the LP, but this is Fender's community.

This may be a Fender forum, but I'd venture to say that most here are fans of guitars in general. No need to hide the LP. In fact, over in the lounge there is a post "Let's see your guitars 2", and I'll bet a pic of that LP as well as any other guitars you'd like to share would be more than welcome there.

You make a good point. Here is the guitar my son chose on his 16th. b-day.
