2004 'Hot Rodded' US Standard with SD vintage mini 'bucker and bridge Texas Special.
2009 American Standard 'Nashville', Joe Barden T Styles and Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy in the middle.

I really really really like the one on the left for some reason. I bet I'd like the sound of that baby too. How do you like those mini buckers? But I really like the looks of it too. I actually don't usually like the flame paint jobs, but for some reason yours just looks right.

Hey Csapo, thanks for the kind words. The one on the left has seen some action and is nicely, naturally, road worn. It is just the standard sunburst but really has a 'feel' to it (sadly I call it the Mojocaster!). The mini 'bucker is pretty dark with the rosewood 'board but has plenty of punch, the Texas Special is amazing and combines really well. Sadly it is totally eclipsed by the other one. The Bardens are quite extraordinary, and conbined with the Rio Grande in the middle gives almost any tone I want.
If you're interested in the 'Hot Rod'......;)

I don't like middle pups. I graze them sometimes and it bugs the snot out of me.

guitarik, probably the most pimping set of shots for "show us your tele" ever!

Very cool, guitarik,

My Holy Grail Telecaster arrived earlier this week. I've been on a very long search for it and well worth the wait...

With its blond brother...

Wow. Beauties.

I couldn't find anything about "Holy Grail" Telecasters. What is this model exactly? when was it made? link?

TimDrake - thanks very very much.

richardj - sorry but it wasn't me that commented, but I certainly will. Very nice Teles and interesting to hear about the Bardens. I've been considering a pair for a while now.

JohnnyL - The Holy Grail Telecaster is just a term I was using for this special one, which I have been searching for.

They are both Fender Custom Shop 40th Anniversary Telecasters made in '88 & '89. There were only 300 made and in 3 colors, natural, tabacco burst and crimson red.

There are actually only 299 remaining, as I learned that one was destroyed in a house fire. Keith Urban has a few of them, Ajay (he posts here once in a while) has all 3 colors, one of each. And there are other owners who post up over on telecaster.com. And of course, Alainlafrance here on Fender.com has a tabacco one (at least!!!!).

Here is a shot of all 3, these are Ajay's...

Oops, apologies APBOS, thank YOU for your kind words, and thanks (again) csapo. There are very mixed, and very negative, opinions about the Bardens. They are certainly bright, but we all have a tone control to keep that in check. I find them beautifully punchy whilst retaining the tones I want to use. For me it is helped by the alder body and rosewood 'board. I love 'em and now I have the Rio Grande in the middle this guitar is IT. BTW I have a 5-way super switch which gives neck/neck+middle/neck+bridge/middle+bridge/bridge so I have kept the classic Tele tones and added a couple of cool Strat ish ones for a bit more versatility.

Nice info. Is it the guitar Richie Kotzen used before he got his signature model?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO6ey5r3vZw

The signature model looks pretty much the same - with the added comfort contours... the video above is from his breakthrough album with Poison... can't believe he had a signature model back then.

Recently picked up this 1978 for a great price.

Weighs in at just 7 lbs and plays like dream.

Only changes are to swap out the pots from 1000k to 250k (it is bright) and might throw an 3 ply white guard on it...

Here is my new Christmas present from my wife.
I want to change the pickguard cover to black or t-shell just to make it less generic looking (more personalized)
