Hey, strauboids!

Don't let those pretty pictures fool you!

The body, though it is 95%, the 5% ding is for the visble gullies from not smoothing or rejecting the body. However, the body is quite resonant and the perfect weight, not heavy but with good bottom end, twang, and brightness.

But, the neck, this is what is perfect. Yes, it's got a good flame on one side of the back of the neck but some simple, faint wood grain on the other, so it wouldn't be used on a MIA or American. The face is perrect, nearly no wood grain, smooth, like ebony with a hint of uniforn swirl all up and down the neck, it looks and plays perfect.

I'm definately gonna put Kinman pickups in it...I think. We'll see. The pickups are fine, but they can be noisy with just basic line conidtioners, less noisy with a total line conidtioner, but still not noiseless like the Kinman pickups.

Everything is tight, the truss rod yields a flat neck or a nice bow, no fretting problems if the strings are set at 1.6mm. It intonates perfectly all up and down the neck and the tuners are almost as good as locking tuners with new strings but as good after a bit of play.

The gig bag is piece of junk.

I got it for $399, delivered to my door, best guitar out of the box out of...the 25, 30 guitars I've played thus far.

If you do a search on google "fender telecaster standard made in mexico", or mim added instead, you may find it for $399, check the part number for a 2008 model, get American Musical Supply to price match it, they ship quick. With the bursted teles, you should get a sweet, sweet deal! I'd be hard-pressed to pay the $599? NO WAY. It ain't a tele unless it's cheap, new!

Good luck!

Without a doubt those Kinmans should sound great. I've been contemplating the "Woodstocks" for a "Voodoo Strat" that I built a while back.

I think what I meant to say was that I had already played a few of these new Standard Teles and I haven't hit a dead one yet. The rosewood looks nice and dark on the few that I've seen, but the maple is really the way to go. I'm curious to see if they put out any natural ash like they did through GC and MF. The few that I played from '08 were a little on the heavy side, but I just started a build around the body of a Lite Ash Tele and I've got to tell you it is a really nice piece of wood.

To show another impressive set of ladies? :o Check out photobucket.com, they're the easiest imo. Upload the picture, hold your cursor over the thumbnail of the image, and copy the [img] tag. Then just paste it in your post.

There's a sticky somewhere around here that'll explain it if you still can't figure it out.

This thread needs to be revived.

I posted these pics of my new arrival, in the Custom Shop section, but they need to be here too...
