Hey guys, just joined the forum so I thought I'd share some pics of my newest Tele. I needed a dual humbucker guitar but I couldn't find one in my local shops that played as nice as my American Std Strat or Tele, so I ended up putting this together:

It's an American Std neck on a sunburst Baja body which has been routed for two humbuckers. Pickups are a set of Bare Knuckle VHII's. Absolutely love it!

Are those Bareknuckles splittable?

Just picked this up today for €550. It's a 2006 Japanese telecaster Custom 62 Re-issue.

Newest addition to the family - sorry about bad cell phone photos.

I love the guitar, but it's the crappiest case ever.

Here's three of them, taken on an old (slightly less than) smart phone, so sorry about the small size.

The clear 72 RI has been set up for slide (warmer sound than what I typically hear with slide playing). The middle sunburst was my first Tele, a 2000 Highway 1 that also has a somewhat warm sound for a Tele. On the right is a 69 RI Lake Placid Blue that I had the good fortune to get a surprisingly low price on EBay. The same owner was auctioning a pink 69 RI that ended about 1/2 hour before the blue, and that was attracting all the attention. My good fortune!

Behind them is my circa 1987 Champ and it seems that the more its gotten abused over the years, the better it sounds.

I have one of those too, and for the money ($850 normal retail), it's great. I find the pickups to be a bit on the bright side without a lot of overtones, and there's not a lot of sustain in mine. But it's so easy to play - when I play something requiring thumbing the A string, this is the one I grab for. Pull-offs are also much crisper with the vintage style frets.
Did you change the nut and flatten the frets for the slide? Or are you using a concave slide?

I changed the nut and had the action raised, but didn't flatten the frets. I agree with the minimal sustain and relatively little complexity to the overall sound. Other than that, tuned to open G (most of the time). My slide playing (not all that good) didn't warrant putting much more work into it, so I left it with changing the nut and action.

Nice Guitar! That is very surprising about the case. It is a G&G and everyone of those I have owned or currently own were great cases, very solid.

Not this one, I'm afraid. There are seam problems in multiple places, where the stitches are outside the fabric. The brass locks fit badly (you can close either just fine, but all at the same time will take multiple tries). The nail in the back was hammered in so hard that it tears the fabric. And it's been sprayed with something that smells like a cheap hooker.
In short, I wouldn't give more than $30 for a case with this lack of assembly quality, no matter the amount of plush. There was no QC sticker from G&G either, or I'd have written them.

But the guitar - oh, Fender has done an excellent job on this Tele Select HH. Not just the looks, but the pickup quality and neck is darn near perfect. The tone is warm, especially with the S1 switch. The sustain is "let me go make myself a cup of coffee while this note plays". The compound radius works wonders for my big fingers. The edge of the frets are so much smoother than on an American. The locking tuners are a joy to use. I thought I already had a great Tele until I got this one.
And as you can probably tell, I'm picky :D

If all Selects are of this quality, guys, rush out and try one. It's certainly more than just the top wood that differs.

I like that look - is it an Indiana Barn FSR or Telebration?
