Neither of those guards were stock, of course. Both of those guitars came with Fender's all time worst pickguard boo-boo, mint green. I kept the stock guards. I keep them tucked away in a box in the attic. The Tele wears a Genuine Fender Moto guard but the Strat's guard came from http://www.pickguards.com/.

Moto ... what a silly name for a pickguard type.

I stalled and fouled the plug trying to kick start in the second moto and DNF'd but boy-oh-boy it sure reminded me of a guitar scratchplate.

Good eye. Yea, I didn't really like the stock white pickguard that it came with. I think with the black it has more of a 70's type vibe. I changed the knobs to Fender amp knobs (to give a nod to Muddy Waters) but I wound up changing them back.

This is honestly one of the nicest telecaster i ever seen...
Is it a custom shop, what are the specs?

:D

he actually built it from parts. he says it is "A mash up of my two fave teles, a '66 Tele Custom and '52"

He posted about it on My Stupid Mouth. I'll copy the specs later when I get home. pretty slick tele though. I even tried to buy it off him! love the way the tuners look.

I'm in the market for a Tele. I'm thinking just build my own version of a '51 Butterscotch Nocaster, or get the Texas Tele. how do those play?

Hey there brother!!! i have to say, what a beautiful Telecaster, nice color, pistache green as we call it here in Mexico.. :)

Hey guys, just joined the forum so I thought I'd share some pics of my newest Tele. I needed a dual humbucker guitar but I couldn't find one in my local shops that played as nice as my American Std Strat or Tele, so I ended up putting this together:

It's an American Std neck on a sunburst Baja body which has been routed for two humbuckers. Pickups are a set of Bare Knuckle VHII's. Absolutely love it!

My modded Squier Affinity Butterscotch Telecaster. I installed some copper shielding tape in both the pickup and control cavities after which I put in ,Fender's Telecaster Greasebucket tone kit. I then took out the stock topload bridge and replaced it with a new topload Vintage style bridge which has the classic 3 Barrel Saddle design which makes restringing it much more easier. Sounds a heck of a lot better as well. I'm now thinking of taking out the stock tuners and putting in some Vintage style Klusons and also having a bone nut installed as well.

That looks great 3way!! Congrat! I really love the silver pickup cover look on that Axe. I was think about doing something similar once and going gold but the silver looks classy.

No frills workhorse. I really don't need much else for playing at home. MIJ '52 RI

I am hoping to pair it with a SF Princeton or Deluxe Reverb some day, once I sell some things. It is really difficult to sell gear here in Winnipeg.

I'd also really like to own a nice Esquire some day.
