I am the original owner of a Telecaster purchased new in 1973. It is in good condition and all original. I am trying to establish a base value for it and have not had any luck with searching the internet. I looked at what was supposed to be a '72 Tele on E-bay which had a higher (assuming later) serial number (my serial number begins with "324"). I always assumed my guitar was a '73 because that is when I bought it, but now am wondering what year it actually is.
If anyone can help me determine what year my guitar is and where to look to get a basic value of it I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I'd say the only sensible way is to take the guitar to an expert for precise dating and evaluation.

Serials of that era (too) overlap a lot, and guitars probably weren't made in exact serial number sequence. Any markings on the neck end, neck pocket?

Yep the butt of the neck may carry the date or a code for it.
With that serial possibly a 71 :D

Sure...around $3500...$4000. (Canadian dollars but similar in $USD) would be about right. WTF.
I would think there are lots of examples of SOLD items around on ebay, Reverb, Guitar Centre to compare. :?:
Serial 417011 Deluxe, purchased new in 1973
