Hi guys,

I love my 2011 "60th Anniversary" US Tele, but I don't understand why they put the chrome saddles on it rather than the more retro brass "double-saddles" which seem to be on most of the high-end US Teles. So I picked up a set of Fender replacement brass saddles at a guitar store in Japan, only to find that they probably won't work on my bridge because the brass ones fit two strings, with three screws, rather than the chrome which have six screws and one saddle for each string:

So is there any way I can fit the brass ones on this bridge, or now do I need a new bridge as well? I'm not excited to replace the bridge mainly because I'm not that handy and it looks like the pickup is also attached and I don't want to mess with any of the electronics.

Thanks for the help.

And how do you post the damn photos? I did this six months ago and it worked; now I upload my photos to Photobucket, but the link doesn't seem to work? Why can't they fix this site so we can upload photos directly from our computers, rather than using an ad-stuffed, spam-filled crap site like Photobucket? This is incredibly frustrating.

TIA

And I got so pissed about the photo problem that I forgot the other question I had - will intonation with the brass saddles be a problem because two strings share each saddle, or is the view that the brass saddles provides a better sound and intonation is probably not an issue?

"Classic design with modern hardware" is what they wrote in 2011.
Getting a new (vintage style) bridge is the (much) better alternative vs. trying to drill the current one.

On intonation, a six saddles is better than a three saddles (even compensated). But: the three saddle version has been used quite successfully for a long period, and anyways: no guitar plays in perfect tune on every fret of every string.

On the sound, both steel and brass (and TUSQ and titanium and...) have been known to sound great.

On the pics, photobucket changed their terms of use so you'd need to pay some 500$ to have the links working...
The 'upload pics straight on the forum' will probably remain in the wishlist for many Christmases to come, so at the moment:
Quote:
First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb, flickr or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' and ending in '.jpg'.

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.

There are extensions available for Chrome, Opera and Firefox fixing those nasty p500 errors.

For posting photo I use Flikr since photobucket cost money and they stole my pictures.
I can't see your pictures, do you ?

Modern hardware:
Classic design with modern hardware, including
American Standard deluxe staggered cast/sealed
tuners and American Standard bridge with bent steel
saddles
and stamped brass plate.

The OP did mention of a modern bridge with 6 brass saddles as commonly found on Andy Summer's modified '63 Custom.

Thanks, guys - I can't complain about the sound, feel or intonation at all, so I guess I have to decide if a bridge replacement is important enough just for the visual aesthetic to justify the hassle. I'm generally not one to take a screwdriver to my guitars, I rarely even change the strings.

In the meantime, if anyone wants some authorized Fender brass saddles at a discount, let me know!

I'd just play it the way it is for now.
