I have a new American Pro Tele that came with Tim Shaw PU's. I changed them to Texas Special because I prefer the tome of my American Special Tele that came stock with them. However the tone is still not the same as the stock Tx Sp. on the Am Special Tele. I noticed that both guitars use different Capacitors. The markings on the Am. Sp. Texas Special PU's are: ( the large Mustard colored one): BC Z5U 203M 1KV. and on the smaller light brown cap: Y5U 104m. They are also not wired in the same locations as on the Am. Pro. I would like to put these same value caps. in there Am Pro with he replaced Tx. Spcl. PU's. but can't seem to find any with the same number/letters on them. Any help finding the correct Caps would be helpfull. Thank you

Original service diagram says CAPACITOR CERAMIC DISC .1μF 50V (that's your Y5U 104m) and
CAPACITOR CERAMIC DISC .02μF 50V (that's the BC Z5U 203M 1KV).
Those fancy codes on the caps give info on materials, tolerances & other such things not needed in guitar wiring.

I firmly believe same pickups in two guitars don't sound the same (my ears may be biased...), but check the diagrams if you want to duplicate the AmSpec wiring:
AmSpec Tele with TexSpecs
AmPro Tele with Shaws

Yep, noticed that, but the voltage rating only tells the maximum a cap can handle without breaking, and that shouldn't have influence on anything else. Unless we're expanding the 'PIO sounds better than a film cap' endless debate to 'cap voltage rating is audible'...

The (well, one...) difference on those two diagrams is that the AmPro has a "treble bleed" (according to Fender lingo, it "maintains highs when reducing volume", the AmSpecial has the "Greasebucket™ circuit" ('rolling off the highs without adding bass').
Many ways to skin a catfish...

You are right.
Just to say it is not a 50 volts caps.

Yep.
But since I'm by no means a wiring guru, I took this as a valuable learning opportunity, and looked up the voltageism a bit.
Seems the high-voltage caps have their history in tube amps, where the "electromotive forces" are bigger.
Still, no tonal differences - IMHO.

I suppose it’s probably the “Grease Bucket” circuitry that is giving me the tone that I’m liking. ...and the different Caps. Many thanx to all !
