Hi,

I'm torn between the two. I'd choose the Pro Tele but I'm worried about intonation with a 3-saddle bridge. I frequently play chords (triads) at and above the 12th fret. Would that be in tune like on an Elite Tele? Thank you!

Cheers

No guitar will play perfectly in tune on every string, every fret.

That said, 3-saddle Telecasters have served well through the ages in just about every kind of music.
And there are solutions (from setup tricks to upgrade parts) if the intonation is not satisfactory.

jmattis is absolutely right.
3 saddle Teles have been used for decades ... and by some pretty big names.
I wouldn't be able to live with that compromise but that's me.
We are all different.
If you think you might be one of those folks who couldn't live with it then you should do all you can to make certain of it first before you dismiss them.
That arrangement adds a unique character to the tone of a Tele, not easily achievable by other means.
The onus is on you to find one and play it long enough to determine if you can live with it.
It's a personal choice and nobody can decide but you.
Sorry, I know that's not the answer you wanted but it happens to be true.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
