Hi. I am new to the forum and need some info. I have a Fender American Standard tele with the custom shop broadcaster bridge pickup and the twisted tele neck. I am wanting to add a 5 way super switch with a 4PDT switch to get standard strat combinations, along with standard tele and some series switching options. I need suggestions on which middle pickup to use with the 2 I have for a good sound.

OK, let's get this topic rolling.

First, pickups are very personal, so your own taste is the final decider.

If you want the mid pup to follow what you got (that set is pretty ruff), choose something hot. Maybe a Texas Special or a Tex Mex from Strat pickups if you stay with Fender products.
Or go just the opposite way, and mellow the overall sound with a softer mid pup - from Fender, maybe a 57/62.

But go high or low, good aftermarket manufacturers will surely help you choose (the likes of Lollar, Fralin, Kinman etc.)

I talked to Fender since I was a while getting a reply and asked them about a custom shop 69. That had been recommended by 2 other pickers. I found one on ebay, made, dated and initialed by Abby. I ordered it but if you think one of the others will work better, I will follow your recommendations. I want a pickup signed by her anyway, since there are no more being done so nothing is lost there. I had originally thought about a Texas special but some said "too hot". I myself kinda like the snarl sound but I also want to get mellow. I was able to get some great tones with the broadcaster and twisted tele...just doing like everyone else, playing around, looking for "that sound".

My 'recommendations' are just possible approaches, seeds to give you ideas, personal mind blabbering and so on.

The CS69 is in no way a bad option, plus the AY check mark makes it a bit magical.
