Hey folks,
I've found a shop that has a couple of Telecaster GT's, made in Japan. I don't know anything about them. They've got one humbucker, one volume knob, rosewood board, graphite saddles, and a racing stripe down the center of the body. Actually, I think it would be more of a Custom Esquire more than a Tele. Does anyone have any information on those, like model year or any other specs?

The Fender Esquire Custom GT features a set neck and a super slim contoured mahogany body and cool car color finishes with Custom Racing Stripes. It is powered by a single American made Seymour Duncan Invader humbucking pickup.

Set Neck- Mahogany with Rosewood Fingerboard
25 1/2" Scale
Graphite Nut
22 Jumbo Frets
Oversized Abalone Dot Inlays
Super Slim Contoured Mahogany Body
Contoured Carved Top
Matching Color Headstock
Smoked Chrome Hardware
Sealed Die cast Tuners
String through Body Hard Tail Bridge
Volume only
Seymour Duncan Invader Humbucking Pickup
Finishes: Crimson Metallic (525), Chrome Blue (595)
$899.99 U.S. Suggested Retail

These probably sold for about $629 when they were new. If I were you I'd look into the Special Edition Custom Telecaster. Same price, but with two Seymour Duncan Pickups ('59 neck, Pearly Gates bridge, push/pull coil tap). I picked up the Spalted maple one and have been thrilled with it so far. Obviously if you can get a deal on the GT I would jump all over it. I don't think they made those for more than a couple of years. (early-mid 2000's)Image
