The only Tele that I own is a 1977 Fender Telecaster Custom in blonde (Mary Kay blonde) with rosewood fretboard. I've been scouring eBay and Reverb to get some idea of its value but all I see are sunburst, black and maple. Is blonde with rosewood so rare that nobody sells them or are they so coveted that nobody parts with them?

The "standard color" for a Custom Telecaster of that era was Sunburst, all other colors are considered custom.

Depending on condition, originality, color, documentation, desirability, etc. your guitar could fetch a price as high as someone is willing to pay.

The 2014 bluebook prices for a 75-78 model are between 1,050-3,250.

I'm nitpicking again (sorry), but officially there was no standard color.
My memory alone isn't reliable here, so I'm getting support from the pricelists (April and December 1977) info:
Quote:
(Model list, all with "choice of finishes" marking)
All Telecaster Custom models are available in the following finishes:
Sunburst (500); Blond (501); White (505); Black (506); Natural (521); Walnut (522); Antigua (523); and Wine (524)

The price range you give seems to correlate with e.g. reverb.com - most sales of course with most common colors.
On rare colors, the price can go either way, depending among other things on the covetability and availability.

No problem w/ nitpicking, I knew I shouldn't of posted such a hasty reply and used such words as standard. I in fact shouldn't have replied at all w/o at least one picture of said instrument.
In fact all Fender colors, are custom. And sunburst is usually referred to as the base color model for instruments made from 1974-1981 as they represent the majority produced.

To the op, Mary Kay represents more of total guitar description as opposed to a color. Does your guitar feature gold hardware?

Of course, I don't ever expect a reply from the op.
