New to forum..Hi

Not new to guitars, amps and gear In general...Pro player 35+ yrs--Have had many fender guitars..

April 20 ordered online from Guitar Center the new Telecaster Elite tobacco burst

It came in and I played it in store..bridge pickup did not work..so the middle position did not work. Store manager and a Tech agreed it was the pickup..they re-ordered a new guitar direct from fender.

New guitar arrived..played it in store..the neck pickup did not work..requested and received a refund.

Disappointed and angry..where is quality control..supposed to be the top of line Tele..and for 2k it better be..I contacted Fender corporate direct and am waiting for a reply. I hope they care !

I read the reviews of this guitar on the Guitar Center site..It seems another person had the exact problem with the pickups..and also on two guitars..but this guy had more faith than I do..he ordered a third.

So if this is not an isolated problem..Fender should address it to the public and a remedy should be announced. Hopefully they can and will correct the problem. Really fix it right not just put some tape on a wire so it will work till the warrantee expires. As much as I wanted this model-it is pretty-not sure I am willing to trust it again.

The AmElite series has the new, 4th generation Noiseless single-coil pickups, so maybe there are still some pediatric problems with the production - that is, if the 'somewhat complicated' S1 is ruled out with certainty.

Keep us informed on the Fender reply.

But on the wish of Fender responding publicly with an apology, explanation and callback style remedy, don't hold your breath. Doesn't happen these days, with any companies.

Thanks for your reply..

ok..Received a reply from fender corp. and a poor reply indeed. They are sorry to hear about my problem and will let "the factory team know about it" .. and they also have a great warrantee plan to address any other problems I might have. Which tells me this guy did not even read my complaint as he only replied as if I just had the one guitar malfunction not two with the same problem. So I guess the word "sorry" is about all I can expect from them..I doubt anyone in the executive level even knows or cares about something as mundane as this..sad to say it almost makes one feel foolish to care about letting them know.

Same problem with mine. Bridge pickup died within a week. Back to GC, the tech had another with a bad neck p'up. Fender had none in stock so he took the good bridge pup out of the store guitar and put it in mine. No problem since. (8 months)
By the way, when I was searching for a guitar, I must have tried 20 different Tele Elites at various GC locations. Ran into at least 3 others that had pup problems.
If you get a good one, it's worth it.
Just to update, as of today 2/8/18, no p'up problems since original.
