I took the plunge on a Classic Vibe Custom tele today. It's practically new... guy bought it last week but got in a car accident and needed to sell off some gear to help fund a new ride so I got it for an excellent price. Still had all of the plastic and stickers on it (which came off immediately after getting it home). She's a beaut, Clark! I've always shied away from the Squier name, but after checking out and playing the CVC I knew I had to get over that nonsense right away or I would lose out on some quality gear. I know it is China and all, but I'm surprised even they can whip out something that affordable at this great quality. I haven't played any American teles so I can't really give an objective opinion on the similarities and differences there, but the three F's (feel, fit, and finish) of this thing is beyond any MIM tele I've ever played. It's a looker, it feels fantastic, and it sounds oustanding. I had every intent on buying it then maybe swapping out the pickups, but I'm definitely going to hold off on that for some time because it sounds awesome as is!

I kind of had my heart set on the butterscotch one (and who knows... I may still get it some day), but after checking this one out and playing it I just couldn't pass it up.

Those are exceptional guitars and not just for the money. I have experience with Chinese ..Indonesian ..Mexican ..American and custom. The most important part on any guitar is the neck itself. If the neck is straight ..has good fret work (level) and the nut is properly cut, everything else can be changed with ease ..but not so easily if you have a bad neck. A good neck will render itself to a proper and desired set up without any fret rattle or pings.

Love my Squier Jazzmaster...fit finish ..playability and sound is on par with my custom build... would not trade it for anything
