My guitar has a horrid resonating note!
Is it possible that something is broken in the body or neck of my telecaster?
My guitar fell over a couple weeks ago and there is a small ding on the fingerboard, but aside from this, I discovered today, (acoustically), when I play an open A along with a G or F# note I hear a resonating vibration that is quite dischordal emanating from somewhere on/in the guitar. And additional, (seemingly not quite a semitone), note vibrates loudly. Not unlike when some loud music causes an object to vibrate in an odd frequency.
Has anybody encountered similar, or able to confirm something?
The guitar is not a cheapie, but the most recent fender telecaster elite.

That is the good one

Check for all piece can come loose or move.
Check neck to the body screw, tuning machines.
Is neck in parallel to the body ?
Neck curve may move and truss rod are loose, check both.
Do a complete and professional set up.

See a qualified luthier if you have no experience of these

Tony, I'm not in any way doubting your skills, but the fact that you ask this question makes me support this:

You can of course try and locate the resonance point by muting different parts of the guitar with your fingers, but the culprit can be any minor/major part, so a full check & setup is needed.

Being a new Elite, shouldn't the warranty cover this?

Missed that minor detail. A trip to a really good guitar tech is in order.

Maybe an insurance claim?

Had a rattle in my AM Tele Standard. After a lot of searching fixed the problem of a loose "neck tilt screw" by slightly tightening it with the neck screwed down tight. Looked high and low for the rattle source, but this screw is out of sight. I had never previously adjusted the tilt so must have been loose from the factory or worked loose from vibration.
Worth checking, Ross

Let's try to define what your problem actually is, because it is not really clear from your post.
You state your guitar has a "horrid resonating note" or "vibration" when you play "an open A note, along with a G or F# note" "acoustically," and you state that the note "vibrates loudly".
Does it vibrate loudly when amplified or just when played acoustically?
Is this sound present when amplified?
Did this problem begin when your guitar fell?
How did the guitar fall; what did it hit; and where is the dent on the fretboard?
Is the sound associated with the open A string, possibly coming from the nut on the open A string?
Are any of the strings fretting out when depressed, which could require a truss rod adjustment?

Okay... Firstly thanks for all the feedback everyone. I fully appreciate the input!
The resonance was coming from the body. I pressed my hand firmly on the scratch plate and it was far quieter. I loosened every screw and found that by NOT screwing the scratch plate down as firmly the hideous note was gone.
I'm still left to wonder though, whether or 'not' the vibration was the result of the fall.. By the way, my Tele fell on my pedal board when the guitar lead wrapped around my foot as I walked away, causing the tiny ding.
