Post subject: IS MY MACHINE HEAD BROKEN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

I recently broke my high e string and I went to replace it and the string will not go through the machine head there is a metal wall beyond the hole you would put your string through someone please help

If you've got vintage style tuners with a slot down the middle of the post the string doesn't go all the way through. Push the string as far as it will go, then you have to bend it round the post and start winding. Make sure you bend it round the right way.

I prefer the vintage style, looks neater i think.

Also, change all the strings regularly. Don't wait until they break. Strings stretch and become less elastic with time and use, and if they've been on the guitar for too long, they will sound dead.
If getting a new guitar, changing the strings for a fresh set is generally the first thing you want to do.

If you say you hit a wall, that could mean you have locking tuners. If so, there's a wheel on the back of the tuner that you need to turn to open it up, and to close it again after inserting the string. (With locking tuners, you also don't want to wind the string around the post multiple times. Half a rotation when taut is more than enough.)
