Hi there, I'm new to the boards so I hope you don't mind me diving straight in with a question!

I've just picked up a Nashville Deluxe Tele (2017 model) and it feels and plays great. However with my amp on high gain there is a of load of hum and hiss. Really quite bad. At first I thought it was the guitar as when I touched the strings it almost disappeared. But I took the guitar back to the shop, they tested it and said it was fine but I exchanged it for another just in case anyway. Sure enough the problem is still there. I've tried a couple of amps and leads as well. I have an American Special Strat and whilst that hums a tiny bit, it's nowhere near as bad (and in positions 2 and 4 its gone completely). Its why I've never really noticed it before.

I've tried it all over my house and it's worse in some places than others, so I'm now sure its something electrical in my house interfering. So I'm going to try and figure out the source/get a noise gate.

The thing I don't understand (and I'm not an experienced guitarist - just play at home) is I find it strange why a noiseless pickup on the Deluxe would pick up that much more hum than a strat! Shouldn't a noiseless pickup eliminate or significantly reduce it - not be worse than a Strat with Texas Specials?

Anyone else had this issue?

You have a Tele Nasville Deluxe 2017 and a high gain amp.
What is the amp ?

Did you try the Tele in the amp exactly like you test with your Stratocaster wich is silent in pos 2 and 4 ?

Single coil pickups will allow hum to get in.
Particularly at higher gain settings.
Many Strats have a reverse wound, reverse polarity (RWRP) middle pickup which makes the guitar quieter in positions 2 & 4.

Touching the strings and noticing a reduction of noise compared to not touching them is normal.

There are three methods of making a guitar quieter.
Humbucking pickups do just that; they buck hum.
Silent single coil pickups are in some ways similar to humbuckers but using a different arrangement of the coils.
There is also a grounded rear cover plate solution but it requires the use of non-RWRP middle pickups on Strats.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Just a note: although the Noiseless pickups work against the typical single coil hum, they still can pick up interference.

You don't write anything about if the noise in your Tele is louder/quieter in different switch positions or same all around.

One very wild guess: does anything change if you put a short strip of electrical tape under the switch, on top of the conductive paint in the routing?

Thanks for the replies/advice guys, appreciate it.

The Amp is a Boss Katana 50. I've code a Marshall Code 25 as well and whilst its there too, the Boss seems more sensitive, even when I set the power to 25W on the Boss to try and keep them consistent for testing.

The buzz is the same in all positions on the Tele, perhaps a little more on the neck.
