Hi,
I bought an American Series Telecaster, Candy Apple Red with a maple neck in 2012. However, I no longer have information of what the string thickness' are. I want to buy the Fender strings for my instrument.

9's sound a little thin (to me) so I use 10's and no problems.

stratele52 seems to be a little off lately.
We shall forgive him though.

It came with 9-42, not 9-46.
Like Mike said, you can also run 10-46 with no issues.
The original strings were Fender 250s, nickel plated steel.

Fender 250s at AMS

I personally much prefer the sound of pure nickel over the nickel plated ones.

Although ... I no longer buy Fender strings ever since they stopped making them themselves and gave D'Addario the right to use the name.
Not a fan of D'Addario.
I've switched to Ernie Balls

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Going up a size or two is usually no problem. Going down to .008s (or .007s) can be more of a challenge as the nut is cut for thicker strings.

As for nickel, some people are allergic, mostly due to long term exposure. In which case Ernie Ball Cobalt and Rotosound British Steel are the only two brands I know of where the vendor explicitly have stated that they're nickel free.

In any case, experimenting a bit with strings to find what works best for you is more fruitful than going with what the guitar was originally set up with.
