Hi Everyone. I'm new here. I've recently acquired a 'new' Custom Shop '72 Telecaster Deluxe. I'm ecstatic and loving it. It is a once-off Yuiry Shishkov Tele. I've posted a link to pics in another forum, I hope that's ok here.

Basically looking for any info from anyone else with Custom Shop '72 Deluxes, pics or feed back.

Sorry to those of you who've been put through this on the other forum already!

What pick-ups are in it? I just got rid of a 72'reissue. It played great but I thought that the sound left some thing to be desired. I think I was hoping for a Les Paul cheap. I did get the sound that I was looking for out of a Duncan Hot Rails / Quarter Pounder mix in Highway 1 tele. That sucka will out Les Paul a lot of Les Paul's. At least the sound I'd be looking for out of a Les Paul. Oh ya nice instrument though. It looks f'n wicked as they say around these parts. peace. J.J.B.

Wow! What an awesome neck!
It looks like it's been loved.

That's a beautiful piece of maple for your neck.

Are the pickups Seth Lover-designed Wide Range humbuckers with "Cunife" (Copper/Nickel/Ferrite) rod magnets in the place of pole-pieces?

If Yuiry Shishkov was interested in producing a relic of an early '70s Tele Deluxe, why didn't he use period-correct solid bridge saddles and non-slotted tuners?

My first good guitar was a new '73 Tele Deluxe. I wore it out. In a fit of nostalgia, I bought a '74 about 20 years ago. The northern ash body weighed a ton so I fitted the neck, bridge, and one pickup on a swamp ash thinline body. This is the one guitar I always have at hand for about 15 years now.

I purchased a RI Tele Deluxe about a year ago and love it.

I have received many many compliments regarding it's tone after performances.

The only mods I did to it was to install some Graphtech saddles.

Wow It's amazing! I have 7s reissue MIM, I think the build quality is pretty good considering it's a MIM, But it kinda bugs me that it's not a us made guitar, I'm just in love with the look and feel of it. How much would a custom shop instrument like this cost as a matter of interest?

A hand full of K's. Wish I could say here, but it might bite me one day!! Anyway, the guitar is just wonderful.. I'm finding it surprisingly versatile, great for Rock and Blues. Probably a bit harder to play bendy solo's compared to my Strat (hardtail and all), but tone second to none.

The Pups are 500's thats all i know! Regarding the saddles, I think the idea is that the axe has been 'modded' over time as many of these 72's have been. The 3 bold neck re-drilled to 4 etc. So it's not 'stock'. But it is 'authentic' as it were.
