Good Afternoon,

I was hoping someone would be able to give me some info on a guitar of mine.

It's a Fender Tele w/ nylon strings. It has a "f" hole on the body and a beautiful 3-tone burst finish. It also has a 50th Ann sticker on the head stock.

It's made in Japan w/ serial U038878

I picked it up a few years ago for $100 at a consignment shop and thought it was a good deal.

I've only met one other person online w/ one and he had a similar story to me as far as how he acquired it.

All in all it's a great sounding guitar when plugged in. I have had both nylon strings and bronze on it. There is some fret buzz around the third fret but I just think it's set up wrong.

I have queried Fender on a few occasions to try and get the equipment manual / setup guide on this guitar - but they have never responded.

Any info would be great. Did I get a good deal? :-)

The Fender Stratocaster isn't just a guitar, it's a cultural icon, a piece of modern Americana. Even if not made in America. Does it matter if the person that screwed it together had a street address in the US of A, Mexico or Japan? He or she will still be giving form to Leo Fender's revolutionary early-fifties design. A design as obviously American as a '57 Chevy. But maybe better. A 2007 Chevrolet looks nothing like the over the top, chrome bedecked, '57 model. But a 2007 Stratocaster looks almost exactly like its 1954 forerunner. Leo got it right (give or take the odd detail) first time out.

That being said, maybe try searching for Ishibashi Music.
