Recently began playing again, after a very long hiatus, my late-80s made-in-Japan 1962 telecaster reissue, and now regretting ever having stopped.

Only one problem: the pickup selector switch is very fussy about the neck pickup, it only works properly if jiggled into place just so. Brushing the selector switch just a hair, e.g. during aggressive rhythm playing, can cause the guitar to go silent. No similar problem with the bridge pickup setting or the middle (both pickups) setting. As you can surmise, I'm pretty ignorant of the inner workings of the instrument. I'm guessing there's a dirty or corroded connecction somewhere - question is, how do I identify, clean, and replace if necessary ,the offending component?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Use some DEOXIT on the switch you can get it at places like GC or Mf for like ten dollars if that don't work you can get a Fender switch for 20 and replace it but it is good to have some Deoxit around anyway.

Thanks very much, the contact cleaner worked perfectly and fixed the problem. Very nice to have that lovely neck pickup tone available on demand again. Thanks for the help!
