I have a 2006 American Deluxe Telecaster body that I'm looking for a neck for (rosewood). On several sites that sell genuine Fender parts, I've only found Maple necks.

I did find a 2016 Rosewood American Standard neck, and I saw it has 5 holes on the back (not the micro tilt hole) where it attaches to the neck. The 5th (extra) hole is on the left side about halfway between the other two holes. Is that extra hole there to accommodate a fit to an American Deluxe Tele body? It looks to be in the same place the hole is on a Deluxe neck.

Thank you for any help you might be able to give.

The extra hole was placed there on purpose by the long haired creepy dude with the green earring who works the neck drilling machine.
He did that just to make people wonder why it's there.
It has no other function.
Don't worry about.
The guy's a freak.
The cops are watching him all the time.

No screw has ever been threaded into it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Your theory is indeed correct. All American Standard necks made in 2016 have 5 holes.
The extra hole is to allow fitting to bodies with the contoured heel and curved neckplate.

Fender also have a replacement neck in rosewood with 5 holes as used on the American Standard available.
Part number is 0993200921, you should find one available using any search engine

I almost wish they didn't have holes at all, but came with drilling templates instead.
Drilling holes is much easier than filling unwanted ones. And any hole not filled with anything nor lacquered is a small moisture sink and potential for problems down the road.
