Hi, everyone. I am trying to replace the vintage "ashtray" bridge on my Tele with a modern American Standard. I was absolutely sure it would fit when I bought it, but as soon as I started draft measurements it came clear that it wouldn't fit. If I set it in accordance with the pickup and string holes, the scale becomes about half an inch longer. Seems like the modern bridge has a longer distance between the saddles and the pickup than the vintage one. The whole thing is kinda fishy... Would Fender really change the benchmarks on their factories for vintage and modern Teles that much? I mean, they would have to make the bridge pickup closer to the neck to preserve the 25.5" scale length. Or is the modern Tele's NECK shoter or something? The whole thing makes my brain hurt a little. I'd be glad if anyone could clarify the situation.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I do hope I've put my thoughts clear enough. If not, I could try explaining once more.

well the pickups I believe are in the same places. It's the mounting screws and string holes that are moved between the two designs. The scale will stay the same do to the fact that the saddles have different lengths and are adjusted to keep it the same. The neck is the same and everything else as well. I found this out trying to put a vintage style bridge on an American Deluxe tele body for a project guitar. Anyways, you can either plug the screw and string holes and redrill them usign the bridge PUP as a guide or give up on changing the bridge. Best of luck.
