After 35+ years of playing, a strict mahogany- humbucker man, I bought my first strat about 1 1/2 years ago. I LOVE that guitar.
I just had a "milestone" bday and the wife gave me the green-light for another guitar purchase so I went with the American Special Tele. I picked the special because the neck. It has the same neck on my strat, 22 jumbo frets, 9.5 in. radius, satin finish, that neck was made for me.
I have already swapped out the pickups with a set of vintage noiseless and the bridge with a "hot-rod" for intonation.. So far so good, except the neck pickup, not too thrilled with it.

I find that the N3 is less "wooly" than the vintage noiseless - perhaps that might be worth trying out? I like mine a lot, because it's hot, but still retains good treble.

There's also Lace, but I don't have any experience with them on a Tele.

Nice, work out some height adjustments on the pups until you get it where you want it. I find lowering the front helps a lot but not to far, just find a good balance for what sound you like.
