Here is a picture of Keith Richards playing "Malcom," another 50's style Telecaster in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2014.
(Keith's "Micawber" Tele has a brass finished bridge, inverted neck pickup, and other identifying features)

Here is a more grainey picture taken of a television image of what appears to be Keith playing the same "Malcom" Telecaster in the Live at Hyde Park video in 2013

Image

Now, check out this picture taken from the Live at Hyde Park video (2013), of the custom, one piece, billet aluminum tuning mechanism, that Keith has on this Telecaster, apparently with string locks, and pearl tuning knobs.
I have never seen one of these anywhere else.
It must be used to add rigidity to the headstock...., or maybe just for grins.....

It could also be to add weight to the headstock. The old "more weight = more sustain" line of thinking.

Are you sure that is a one-piece thing and not just the camera angle not showing the space between the tuners (i.e. the locking thumbwheel is obscuring the spaces)? Also the low E looks slightly out of alignment with the other tuners. The locks and knob shape look like Sperzels to me, and you can get pearl knobs to fit Sperzels. If it is a one-piece thing then perhaps Sperzel made it for Keith.

I guess that's why they call them "Unidentified Flying Objects"......?????
It bridges the gap between that which is alien, and that which is a known, or unknown Earthly commodity.....
Below is a picture of the Sperzel Trim lock tuning key.
