I wasn't sure where to post this, but here it goes.
I just received a new American Deluxe Telecaster, and aside from getting to know it better, I've also been investigating various features in use on certain guitars. One of those features is the Fender/Fishman Powerbridge Piezo system. Whatever that is!
Can someone please, in relatively easy terms to understand, explain to me what that feature is exactly, what it does, and could it be adapted to my Telecaster? It seems to me, that it may be a pathway when desired, towards obtaining a more acoustic sound option from the electric guitar. Can you help me here? Anyone ever used it?

Thanks..........................Dave

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the Forum!
I have a Nashville Deluxe tele with the Fishman Powerbridge. It comes already installed, so I don't know about retrofitting one to your American Deluxe tele, but I do see from the Fishman website that they have 2 models listed, both tele compatible - the VT and the AST. You could go to a local music store (Long&McQuade?) and ask them for advice.
I like my tele very much as it also has 3 pickups and 5 way switching, so I can get tele or strat sounds, plus the powerbridge. There is also a blend control so you can get all piezo, or blend the piezo o/p with the magnetic p/u's. Very versatile.
The piezos are nice, but not a true acoustic sound. They are a bit percussive at high volume, but still are unique.
I don't use them a lot, but they are nice to have for the times that you want something different in your tonal palette.
Again, welcome to the forum and the Great White North portion thereof...
Cheers,
Alex

Fender did an American Deluxe Tele with the Fishman Powerbridge 16 years ago.

(this guitar is not mine)

The American Deluxe Power Tele lasted only one year and was discontinued; it's often recognisable for the built-in 12dB mid boost preamp powering the piezos and the sub-rumble cut trim switch in the back.

There were rumours saying a very small batch of early production runs had a Nashville configuration with 7-way switching, unfortunately I've never seen one across the Internet.

It is a bridge with a Piezo pickup imbedded within.

There are Telecaster versions out there (check the Fishman website or call them direct).

Personally, I think they're "ok" for a pseudo-acoustic sound (just my opinion, though). Be prepared for the quack and sizzle a piezo pickup introduces into your tone.
