WOW just brought this beauty home, it's my first Tele its MIM new, I just unpacked it,
I fell for her lol
I named her before I manage to buy it, Carmelita since it's from Mexico and one of my favourite songs is "Carmelita" by Warren Zevon...now the fun fact is that I didn't know that Fender factory in Mexico is in Ensenada...now Ensenada is mentioned in the song "Carmelita"...I took it as a sign from guitar Gods.

Quote:
I hear Mariachi static on my radio
And the tubes they glow in the dark
And I'm there with her in Ensenada
And I'm here in Echo Park

Anyway it's waymore than I expected, the neck, finish all...just did the initial setup and it's sweet.... as midnight wine ...

I love my new American Special Strat but they are two totally different beasts ...Just restring it and love the way it's so simple...
Much easier to setup than my Strat with floating bridge, set the action at 1.6mm as on strut and there's no fret buzz none...nowhere...neck is at 0.010 of relief for now, and what I like is that the thrust rod is much smoother than on my US Strat and has larger hex...

Yeah it got me singing a different song, it drives me to play different styles of music than Strat. It's awesome! And it's a heavy girl!
I also decided to get black pickguard it seams more elegant with it, as Tele was ever supposed to be elegant lol
Something like this

Very sharp looking -- yep, elegant. And you've already discovered that Teles are "right to the point" so enjoy!

They sure are, but how you play these slabs sitting down without bruising your right forearm? I'm used to Strats so this is new...

I love that song...

"I'm sitting here playing solitaire with my pearl-handled deck,
The county won't give me no more methadone,
And they cut off your welfare check..."

Prettiest song ever written about heroin addiction.

I like the black guard, too--looks classier. Congrats and Happy NGD!

Yeah one of my favorite song, and one of the first about heroin addiction, I prefer original Warren Zevon version, but Dwight killed it too, I'm so glad Dwight was with Warren on his final recording days.
