I own a 1985/6 JD Telecaster made in Japan (s/n A014343). I've heard the p/u's are Seymour Duncan JD p/u's.

Can anyone confirm this?

If so is the bridge p/u the same as the current Seymour Duncan JERRY DONAHUE (p/n APTL-3JD) model?

If so what is the equivalent Seymour Duncan neck p/u? (This model uses a Strat p/u in the neck position).

Not an expert, but here's some thoughts:
I'll start with a hmm. As far as I know, the Japanese JD models are from the nineties. If you verified the 1985/86 by a serial in the bridge, the usual date rules don't apply. Neck/pocket markings or a peek under the pickguard (stamps, pots etc.) might give more info.

Again, as far as I know, if a pickup is Duncan Designed (made in the Far East somewhere), it usually (always?) has that DD text on the pickup.

On the similar pickups issue, don't know of SD selection, but in general look for vintage style = lowish output. The wiring should also be a bit unusual...
