After months of searching for my next guitar, it came down to these two. However it is difficult to choose between the two. Tell me your opinions on which one is an overall better guitar.

Both are good sounding and playing guitars. I like the Tele headstock and variety of HB and SC pups and U-profile neck on the Custom, but also like the Dual HBs and micro-tilt feature with C-profile on the Deluxe.

It's a close, tough call, but I'd go with the Custom for the variety of sounds with the two different style pickups and beefier neck. 8)

I'm in the same predicament you are. I'm looking for another Tele and I'm 95% sure it will be the Deluxe. I play and listen to a lot of styles of music, so the dual humbuckers will fit the bill nicely and will be, well, just different from my other two Teles. All I have to do now is raise the scratch.

I think the custom is a fantastic guitar.

I actually bout the Squier version of this because I liked the feel of it a little better. After it was setup it sounds great for classic rock and blues which is what I play for the most part. Plus I saved a few hundred bucks!

I personally found the stock pickups in all these guitars not quite what I wanted and I think I will be putting SD Pearly Gates pickups in.

I just traded my 72' deluxe reissue in for another Highway 1 tele. My last one I put a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge and it had it all over "Brown Bettie". And I need my real Tele sound to so sadly we parted ways today. Got to split and go play, badly for that matter, my new toy.
Peace. J.J.B.
