Fedex damaged the black lacquer on my Tele. It is about an inch and a half on the bottom right as the guitar sits on a stand facing you. I got an estimate of $250.00 to fix it perfectly. Sounds like he has to take the whole guitar apart. Anyone have a feeling if this is a reasonable estimate or any other solutions?

If you bought it new from a store contact them and let them know, because they may be willing to replace it. Or I would at least get in touch with FedEx and start making some sort of claim if you cannot send it back to where you bought it from. Can you post a pic? Just curious as to how bad it is. I haven't gotten any work like that done before, so I don't know if thats a good price or not, but unless he needs to use a power tool like a buffer or its too close to the knobs or something, I don't really understand why the guitar would need to be taken apart, so thats why a pic might help...

Hello Fred100000,

$250 is a good estimate if it's a MIM standard
for a Clapton model it should be more like $1500
After all they wrecked it. I would do my best to
make them pay the most. Frankly I would suggest
a new guitar is in order.

No excuse for carelessness
at the rates they charge.

Fedex has deep pockets I'd be
all over them
"Like white on rice"

I have no mercy for any of the carriers,
I've seen too much of their cavilier attitude
when they mess something up.

I sure hope things work out for you.

Cheers.

Most places should let you retun it for another. Then they should file a damage claim with the carrier. Some of these items just end up being resold later a B-stock nothing wrong with how they play but visual damage. It depends on how the claim is handled as to the deposition of the merchadise.
