So basically you're saying that, when everyone else felt the earth was a pancake, that conception was more right than De revolutionibus orbium coelestium..?

No, there are some scientific facts that are irrefutable...the earth is round, Mr. Shenton...

...but an oft-cited scientific study that purports the anatomy of the bumblebee does not lend itself to the ability to fly is obliterated by the little critters ably maneuvering through the air. (The existence of such a study and it's findings is also debated, so there's another wrinkle for you...)

Likewise, the feel/tone/vibe factor of a guitar is way too subjective and indefinable to state,
"X does not matter and/or never does matter,"
or
"X always sounds/feels/performs like this."
(X being the variable that is being debated).

Overall construction, different types of wood (even variations within that genus/age/growth conditions of tree), a player's technique, electronics, pickups, effects, amps, setups, etc., all affect how an instrument performs.
We can state certain traits within reason--i.e., a Strat generally sounds like a Strat, a Les Paul generally sounds like a Les Paul, etc.

However, since there are variations of Telecasters, Stratocasters and Les Pauls, based on the factors listed above, it's impossible to say, "X always does This" or "Y always does That..."

A Jim Root Telecaster (a God-awful, butt-ugly abomination, in my not-so-humble opinion) will sound and perform significantly different than my personal dang-near-perfect (again, in my not-so-humble opinion) self-modified/self-named Big Tex/Screamin' Armadillos Telecaster.

That's not to say I can't or don't own, play, and enjoy other instruments (a Modern Player Thinline Deluxe Telecaster, a US Vintage '62 Stratocaster, a 1980 G&L F-100, and others), or that due to my playing technique I generally sound suspiciously like myself, whatever instrument I am playing.

But to say there is no difference between certain construction techniques or components, even if examined scientifically, ignores the fact that perception becomes reality in certain cases...and the relationship between guitarists and their guitars is a perfect example of one of those cases.

In the words of our dearly departed Martian, "Y.M.M.V."

Agreed. The problems (however small and insignificant - and yet multipaged - they may be) arise, when reality is dismissed and the perception is preached as the final truth.

(And re: the gentleman from the fourth rock, a lot of forum members share the blues.)

Wrong space traveler and confused planetary being, there appears to be only two or three Forum Members seem to always "sing the blues" while exploring the ethereal world of Guitar Mythology.

So as not to challenge anyone's "reality" with multi-pages of Guitar Mythology destruction, I provide the following excellent video on the affect of "Tone Wood" in electric guitars for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy!!

There are many "monoliths" to be discovered in Guitar Mythology on one's existential voyage.

Say, what's that blues number you're humming again....????
