he's been one of my favorite guitarists as i'm sure he is to most folks on this forum. i know how difficult of an undertaking it would be but why not. the "dragon tele" was on his most famous recordings after all. if fender can see fit to give the edge his own signature strat why not a jimmy page tribute. after all he was Eric Clapton's producer on the bluesbreakers album. jimmy is one of the greats. why not?

Even though the Tele is the only guitar on LZ I and the iconic solo to Stairway, Page is far more linked to Les Pauls than anything else, and has had a few signature LPs over the years, as well as a signature doubleneck as a limited run.

I think it would have to be up to Page - if he wanted to do one with Fender, they would. And I suspect that it would be a CS model, like the Gilmour Strat.

I would say it's probable that the endorsement deals with Gibson have exclusivity clauses that would preclude a Jimmy Page Fender model.

Much like you won't see a Clapton SG, because there are likely exclusive Fender agreements.

The cool way would be to DIY, just as Mr. Page did.
There have been some build topics, but on many the pics aren't visible anymore. Here's one mostly still working:

i have some friends who are into LZ and we had discussed the tele and they thought the personal art work would be hell to duplicate. if you notice that most if not all cs signature models don't have artwork. i really don't see any cross company endorsement problems, giby did a clapton beano lp and clapton showed it off. it's always money that ruins the fun, right? i think it would be cool to see one offered sense the original one was destroyed. jeff beck even played it. i guess i'm just dreaming out loud after all i'm just a fan.

Unless a guitar company is building a "new," clean guitar for an established artist, and marketing the same as an "Artist Series" guitar, my advice would be that guitar companies should refrain from trying to copy and market reproductions of an artist's existing, unique, vintage guitar.

I really do not see the point in copying every distress mark in someone's guitar and producing thousands of reproductions for the public, or why people would want one of thousands of a copied artist's guitar.
For me, it would be nearly a national tragedy for Bruce Springsteen's original Telecaster to ever be exactly copied and marketed in mass to the public.
(Please refrain from telling me it's an Esquire).

Of course, admittedly, I also do not see the point in creating fake "relic" guitars either, but this has proven to be a rather large "cash cow" for guitar companies and their custom shops, as there is apparently a sizable market of people who like to own "fake" guitars.
To me, this is like ordering a new Mustang or Camaro, and asking the manufacturer to dull the paint, apply some dents, and add some paint scrapes to the car, so I could pretend that the car was actually from 1969; completely pointless, and somewhat insane.

Personally, I think that copying established artist's unique, vintage guitars, is best left to individuals to make on their own, or to contract with a guitar maker's custom shop, to make a one-off copy from the best information available, if you really want a copy of an artist's unique, vintage guitar.
I think that you would enjoy such a guitar a lot more if you follow one of these paths, as opposed to having a mass produced, reproduction guitar.
